Brothers Saved: Homecoming

And we’re back!

It’s been a while since we visited the Brothers Saved pair, and we left them before John Winchester returned home with Bobby Singer, which is right where this fic pics up!

Tomorrow the story will continue, in Brothers Saved: Burgers and Bacon and Bobby.

You can find the rest of their story at Archive of Our Own.

“Sam, we’re back!”

The thunderous voice echoed around the Winchester brothers. Sam perked up as he glanced towards the front door, not noticing the way Dean stiffened to hear their father’s deep voice for the first time since he’d woken up just a few inches in height.

John was an intimidating figure on the best of days, and with Dean’s height cut down to a fraction of his original, that would only be heightened.

“In here!” Sam called, letting the hunters know they were in the library.

Without the ability to go picking through the junked cars out back, there was very little that Dean found interesting to do at Bobby Singer’s house. Due to John’s orders given to Sam before leaving, Dean had stuck close to Sam the entire time since waking up. It helped them both, in a way. Sam didn’t worry so much when Dean was in sight and Dean used it to reassure himself that things weren’t as changed as they felt.

Times like this made Dean doubt that assertion.

Thudding footsteps made their way through the house. One set split from the other, and Dean could hear Bobby in the kitchen, likely fussing over all the calls he’d missed since joining up with John to help the Winchester family.

Part of Dean wished that Bobby had come to see them in the library, the other part of him knew he would have a hard enough time with just one new giant, never mind a second.

He’d adjusted to Sam over the last two days, spending a lot of time within arm’s reach of the younger Winchester kid. Sam had stayed true to his word, and kept the amount of handling Dean to a minimum, letting his older brother decide if he wanted to change rooms or stay where they were. Only a few times had Sam forgot himself and reached for Dean before offering a hand.

They were both adjusting, as best as they could.

When Dean has asked about John and Bobby’s extended absence, Sam had shrugged. “They checked in once a day before you woke up, and Bobby made sure to keep the kitchen stocked,” he’d explained. “They’ll be back soon.”

Now that they were, Dean wasn’t ready.

Plodding footsteps preceding him, the threshold of the door to the library filled with John’s formidable figure. Just over a week ago, Dean was only half a foot shorter than him. Now, he found himself craning his head back to just keep his dad in sight.

“Hey, Sammy,” John said, exhaustion in his voice. “How’re things with–“

Trailing off, John’s brown eyes focused on Dean. Having expected to see the small teenager comatose, it was almost comical to see him do a double-take at the sight of his elder son sitting up on his own, clearly alert.

“Sam! I told you to call us if Dean’s condition changed!” John scolded.

Sam hung his head, his cheeks changing to pink as he flushed. “I forgot,” he mumbled at the ground.

Dean couldn’t stop reaching out and patting the arm Sam had resting near him. With everything going on the last few days and the adjustments he was making, Dean was as much to blame for forgetting to call as anyone. He didn’t want Sam shouldering the blame on his own.

Yet there was a small amount of intimidation that coiled in his stomach and prevented him from speaking up about it as John walked to the table.

All of that fled Dean’s mind as John sat down in the chair next to Sam. Compared to the scrawny ten-year-old, John Winchester was massive, and he leaned over to get a better look at Dean.

Sam sheepishly moved his arm out of the way, trying not to fidget in the seat where he was nearly forgotten about in the wake of Dean’s miraculous recovery.

“How ya feelin’, dude?” John asked in an uncharacteristically soft voice. It was a tone of voice Dean couldn’t remember ever hearing out of the man, at least as far as he was concerned.

Dean clenched his jaw, forcing himself to meet John in the eyes. “I’m fine, sir,” he said stiffly. “No injuries, and Sam’s been careful the whole time.”

John nodded, reaching a hand towards Dean. Dean didn’t let himself flinch away, hating how helpless he felt near his dad.

None of this was right.

All John did was carefully check Dean’s arms and chest for injuries, much like he did with either kid after they took a particularly big fall. Dean had seen him do the same after a hunt, and had even helped patch John back together several times.

Fat lot of good he was now. A needle would be half his size.

John pulled back, and his face clouded over. “I told you to keep us updated while we were gone,” he scolded his younger son, resuming the same conversation as though they’d never stopped.

Sam’s shoulders slouched. “I didn’t mean…”

“You can’t go forgetting something like that,” John said sternly. “Now go help Bobby get the food together. I’ll help Dean.”

Blinking fast, Sam scrambled out of his chair and nearly ran from the room.

Dean watched Sam leave, an odd feeling weighing down his heart.

Not once had John asked him about how things were over the last few days.

Almost as though he didn’t trust Dean.

Weechester Stories

anonymous  asked:

Hi I was just wondering how many AUs will have the bros as kids? Also your stories are freaking awesome.

Well, so far we have Brothers Together and Brothers Saved that have started posting (more to come soon for Brothers Saved). Brothers Discovered will have the bros as tiny kiddos over in London, and is still being worked on. Brothers United, as well, starts when Sam and Dean are young. In this one, they’re both regular sized, but they encounter Oscar when they’re all kids!

And then… just a few random ideas we’ve had that we may sometime turn into stories 😉 Super secret stuff and all that.

Bowman vs full-sized hoomins

anonymous asked:

In Brothers Found, Bowman was found by 2 humans and 1 tiny, what if they (Sam, Dean and Jacob) were all human size and Bowman was the only one his size? And BTW your stories are so awesome.

Well, for starters, all three giants would likely get bitten at least once (and Dean probably more than once). Bowman doesn’t carry any weapons and he may be a pacifist, but he’s not afraid to act in whatever defense he can. That includes chomping on any fingers that get in the way, and also slinging as many insults as he can.

He covers his fear with snark, and being caught by three giants– all of them big dudes even among humans– would really scare the poor sprite. He’d be snarking up a storm, but they’d also probably be able to see how wired he was. Especially if they decided to take him out of the forest; he would be fighting that every step of the way and they’d have a very frantic sprite on their hands.

Most likely, Jacob would be on babysitting duty for the sprite. He’d mind all the biting the least, and would keep Bowman out of the more experienced hunters’ way until they could all regroup and find out more about him.

Brothers Divided question

anonymous asked:

so when does sam make an entrance in divided? gotta reunite that family after all

Whoo, sorry it took so long to answer this! It’s been a crazy month, ha.

Technically, in Brothers Divided, Sam starts out the story with Jacob. Exactly the same as Brothers Adopted, up to the point where they get separated.

Whether or not Sam and Jacob ever reunite, or if Dean finds out the true story behind this kid he’s found, is what the AU is all about! Stay tuned!

Brothers Saved and growth spurts

anonymous  asked:

(brothers saved) what about when Sam hits his growth spurt and Dean can clearly see his hands and body growing larger

Dean is going to be so torn between upset that Sam’s friggin’ enormous, and the “my giant is bigger than you” mindset,  because you can bet he’s going to be smug as a peacock the second that Sam’s bigger than the person he’s arguing with!

A good look at the size difference between those two when they grow up! Done by the fantastic @wolfie180g

Brothers Spaced, an abandoned Doctor Who crossover

Betmyfortune asked:

Since you have a Sherlock AU, will the brothers every bump into the Doctor? Because that would be absolutely bonkers.

@borrowedtimeandspace – Bonkers is definitely a word for what that situation would be.

One of our first attempts at a collab was actually a crossover with BA and Doctor Who, with the Tenth Doctor and my borrower OC Zepheera. It was one of my first tries having her play with others, so her and the Winchesters butted heads a little.

Which isn’t to rule out the idea altogether; far from it. I’m sure if we come up with an idea for it, there’s every possibility that everyone’s favorite Time Lord could show up some day. I know I’ve personally grown as a writer since our very first collab, and I feel like I’d be more up to it than when we gave it our first go.

@nightmares06– Since we’re not sure if we’ll ever get back to it, we can give everyone a little peek at what we had in mind!

There’s every possibility that we’ll revamp Brothers Spaced in the future, so don’t count the doc out!

The Doctor entered the room prepared for action, wielding his sonic screwdriver for all the good it might do. He was ready for anything and anyone that might be on the other side of the door, no matter how big or scary they might be.

His brow rose when his eyes fell on the table and found two people that were the exact opposite.

“Oh,” he whispered, frozen in surprise for a moment. Despite having Zepheera for a companion, they rarely ran into more people her size. And the Doctor was certainly not used to being threatened by such a person, however futile the warning might be given the obvious advantage he had over the smaller man.

The Doctor, of course, would never even think of using this advantage to harm the man with the knife or the other that was making himself scarce. He raised his hands in a peaceful gesture and was about to explain that there had been a mistake, but Zepheera beat him to it.

For her part, Zepheera’s heart sank at the sight of two of her own people, clearly only after the food left on the table. She was all too familiar with the emotions she was picking up from them now, the fear and uncertainty that had been ingrained in her since childhood. She should have recognized the signs immediately, but she’d been apart from that life for too long and simply didn’t take everything into account. Now she was partially responsible for their distress, and she decided it was up to her to rectify her oversight.

“Stop!” she called, jumping to her feet and moving along the Doctor’s shoulder to where she could clearly be seen. The Doctor flinched a little at the shout right next to his ear, but he was otherwise motionless.

“Please, we’re not gonna harm you,” she went on. “This is all just a huge misunderstanding.”

Dean tensed at the sight of the tiny girl on a human’s shoulder. He didn’t relax his stance a bit, knowing that all he could do to control the situation was control his own reactions.

“That’s just what you’d say, bright eyes,” Dean snapped at the girl as he backed towards the wall, “if you wanted us to drop our guards. We’re not gonna be turned into some human’s pets.”

Brothers United Sneak Peek

anonymous asked:

Can we please have another sneak peek of Brothers United. I read the first few and really loved it.

I can spare a small one for today, but this story is currently paused on writing, so we won’t be able to show much more of it without giving everything away!

Rest assured we have plenty of plans, but work and stress have been getting in the way of writing…

It seemed to be Oscar’s moment. Dean had given up on his homework, a few hastily scrawled answers in place to keep Sam happy, and he’d turned more towards the television than the table, so he missed Oscar’s furtive movements.

Sam, whom Dean considered too open and nice to be in the life they dealt with, continued blithely working on his homework, convinced Oscar wouldn’t want to leave on them, especially not without saying goodbye.

Oscar reached the edge of the table unhindered and breathed a sigh. With every quiet step, he anticipated the shadow of a hand falling over him to scoop him up. His nerves were frayed when he looked over the edge, but not from the heights. After being kept close by humans for almost 24 hours, he had a shot at escape.

He glanced back. Their attention was off him.

The future of Brothers Saved

CatSparr asked:

I saw that you were planning to do some more work on Brothers Saved and you were asking for prompts, so… I’ve been curious to see John and Dean interact. Usually Dean stands up to him, but at his new size , would he? Could he? Would Sam step in?

@nightmares06– Actually, there’s going to be a lot said on this subject!

The major overriding factor of how Dean grows up at this size is going to be how he deals with his family.

He’s very used to being the older brother, and therefore in charge of Sammy. Never in his life has his dad expected anything but perfection of him, and he’s taken Sam’s care to heart. Sometimes to the point where Dean suffers to make sure that Sam gets what he needs.

The fact is that John Winchester won’t consider Dean able to handle himself anymore, strictly because of his size, will certainly be a sore spot between them, and Sam will find himself stuck in the middle of them, watching his older brother who he still looks up to, suffer under their dad’s disapproval.

You can find a peek of this future here.

So you will see lots of this, I promise! I’m hoping to get through the early years of Brothers Saved soon so that we can see this develop between the three Winchesters!

Reader messages

Not gonna lie, I’m the person that reads about the one time Sam got shoved into Dean’s pant pocket and my first thought is “I wish I could see that scene” 😂 All I can picture is Dean being flustered and Sam being grouchy…

Lol! That’s gotta be the most awkward position for those two to get caught in!

There’s actually a scene in Deanzilla vs Hydros, towards the later chapters, where this happens with regular sized Sam and his giant brother, so I definitely had inspiration for it!

thepoisonlily asked:

(Part 1 of 2) So, to preface, this is more of a passing comment than a prompt or ask since I know that life is crazy and inspiration comes and goes. I’m rereading Brothers Together and I had forgotten how many things are mentioned that I wished I could see what happened! I can’t get the thought out of my mind of what it must have been like for smol Sam to stitch Dean up after a hunt or what happened when Sam temporarily lost his hearing after being too close to Dean’s gun firing.

(Part 2 of 2) I especially keep imagining what it must have been like when Dean pretended to be drunk on the hunt while Sam was giving him directions on the phone. I have this theory that Dean was trying to see just how many ridiculous phrases he could say and still get away with his drunk persona… Basically, I love the multiverse you have created and I can’t wait to read more! 😍

@nightmares06

Aw thanks soooo much!

Those little story bits are always fun to have hanging around, just a tease to what their lives are like day-to-day! I might not be able to write everything out, but there’s always the chance someone else might get inspiration from them for their own story!

Sam is resigned to his giant, fake-drunk brother at this point, lol. He’s gotta keep an eye on that hunter so he doesn’t go getting himself in trouble!

Thank you so much for these messages!

Who are the Americans…?

myimaginedairybeard asked:

A Burglary at Baker Street chapter 16: “Put him in with the other Americans, I suppose.” in other Americans he referred to Oz but not to Jake, right? Since in Sad Oscar au Jacob was already “bought”. So who’s the other American? Is it the girl from the sneak peek? I guess we’ll find out soon enough. Also, are these monsters the same ones that the Weechesters were sent to (like in Brothers Discovered)? Because in one of the BD fanarts you can see the mark, though it doesn’t fit the description..

Good catches!

Sam and Dean are not marked in Brothers Consulted. One of the major differences between those two AUs is that in BC, Sam and Dean escaped their captors very quickly when they arrived in London, before they were ‘processed.’ In BD, days became months before they were able to escape, which is why it is nearing winter when they’re discovered. They’ll forever be branded in that AU.

I can confirm that Oscar is not one of ‘the Americans.’ At this point in Consulted he is likely getting caught over in America, before he’s shipped overseas.

The black market for borrowers is more expansive than we’ve seen.

We’ll just have to wait and see who those Americans are!

myimaginedairybeard asked:

Bonus – will Oz ever meet the kitten from the consulted shorts? (stricken sneezes)

It’s impossible to know at this time if Oscar will ever meet the kitten, but I can promise that Moira is very good friends with that flat’s cat, and she goes to visit whenever she can!

She just has to make sure Dean is nowhere close.
