Dean actually does pretty good when he first encounters smols, so it would have gone worse than it did, but not as bad as it could. As seen in Walt’s and Jacob’s first encounters with Dean in various AUs, he’s likely to grab, disarm and then trap, likely in a vase (while Jacob would grab a coffee pot), but he’s also very methodical. He won’t hurt Sam purposely, and will keep him trapped while he figures things out. Chances are, the brothers will figure each other out long before Dean calls Bobby up for advice, and if they didn’t, Bobby would scold Dean and tell him to let the little guy go.

December 29th excerpt:

“You’re too short,” Sam grumbled, leaning more of his weight on Dean than he wanted to.

“Not my fault you’re a Sasquatch!” Dean snipped. Compared to everyone else, the Winchesters were the tallest people in the room that weren’t humans, but Sam still managed to tower over him.

Character Profile: Oscar

image

Name: Oscar (He doesn’t know his last name)

Age: 20 (He’s 2 years younger than Sam)

Height: 3.25″ at the most

Species: Borrowers/Littles

Eye Color: Brown

Hair Color: Brown

Gender: Male

Known Abilities: One of the sneakiest littles around owing partially to his small frame, pretty accomplished climber (though not as speedy as Sam thanks to his shorter body), weaving and sewing clothes that are easier for the small folk to move around in

Oscar is a survivor, and has made it to adulthood despite the odds saying he shouldn’t.

Background: Oscar grew up in a little motel in Breckenridge, Colorado. He never knew his father, and his mother never talked about him. His mother was teaching him the skills he needed to survive at their size, but when he was around seven years old, she went out for supplies and never returned. After that, Oscar had to pick up his learning on his own, going out for supplies and food by himself despite his extremely timid nature. He never grew out of that, but he became very good at surviving despite the bad luck thrown at him.

December 28th excerpt:

Sherlock’s eyes narrowed at Dean as he listened. “Is that who you were chasing?” he asked, sharing none of Anita’s hesitancy.

John’s head snapped up. “Chasing?” he repeated. When did that happen?

“Who did you think I was chasing?!” Dean griped, his annoyance at Sherlock flooding back.

Character Profile: Bowman Leafwing

image

Name: Bowman Leafwing

Age: 19 as of A Lich of Sense

Height:  4″

Species: Wood sprite

Eye Color: Bright green

Hair Color: Pine green

Gender: Male

Known Abilities: Expert in flight and aerial acrobatics, forest camouflage, very sassy even when it is dangerously bold of him, basic Prayer to the Earth Spirit

Background: Bowman hails from Wellwood, a very isolated settlement of wood sprites situated so deep in a Midwestern forest that they had forgotten about the existence of human beings entirely. A year before his introduction to the BA-verse in A Lich of Sense, he met Jacob Andris, a human out on a camping trip with his friends. The result of Jacob being the first human to meet a Wellwood sprite in years can be found in the full story of Fairy Tales: Bowman of Wellwood.

Bowman spent all of his time growing up loving to fly. The moment his wings were big enough to carry him off the ground, he started practicing. At that point, his practice with his Prayers took a backseat, making his finesse with Life magic far underdeveloped compared to some others. However, it also means he is a very accomplished flyer, the fastest in Wellwood. He won’t let anyone forget it, either.

December 25th excerpt:

The detective groped blindly at a lock of some kind, and he focused on that. It was a combination lock, one he couldn’t simply pick open and would take far too long to figure out the code for.

“Dean,” he rumbled, eyes darting around the room. It was a wide space, nothing jumped out at him in the shapes he could make out, nothing important, anyway. “I need something to break this off.”

Dean scanned the room, all of his focus concentrated on the task. “Okay, there’s a box in the corner. It’s full of old tools, some wrenches, a pretty hefty hammer–” hefty being so big that Sam and Dean together would never budge it, “–and a drill that looks like it hasn’t been used since I lived in America. Turn right, about three steps. Watch out for the table, don’t want to go knocking that copy of Harry Potter onto the floor.”

“You’re improving,” Sherlock commented as he followed Dean’s directions. Whether it was the stress of the situation or the urgency, it certainly seemed like Dean was showing off at this point. Not that Sherlock was complaining.

December 24th excerpt:

“Hang on,” Sherlock warned Dean, giving him a second to brace himself before jumping up to catch the lowest rung of the escape stairs and drag them down to ground level.

“Holy–!”

Dean’s cry of surprise went unheeded in the swift motion as Sherlock jumped and snagged the ladder. The sensation of freefall was unwelcome for the smaller man, his fear of flying hitting him all at once when he felt himself become airborne as Sherlock dropped back down.

December 20th excerpt:

Dean pinched the bridge of his nose. “Do your parents know you’re here?”

“Mother sent me! She wanted to make sure you two boys were getting along, especially since you haven’t visited in six months, Dean! You can’t make them worry like that.”

Dean sighed. “We meant to come visit, we just got… busy.”
