You’ll see this exact scenario play out in Brothers Unexpected, when Dean runs into a certain tiny someone in his motel room a month after losing Sam!

The motion stopped and Oscar winced. Already his face was wet with tears, silently released when he was paying more attention to his rising prison. This couldn’t be happening, and yet it was. He’d been caught by a human, just like his mom warned would happen if he wasn’t careful. Now, that human had all the control.

Light broke in and Oscar looked up. There was a flash of one of those green eyes again before the hands closed, and he flinched.

Oscar pushed timidly against the hands around him. The thick skin had some give to it, but there was no chance of prying himself free. Oscar had his safety pin in his bag for climbing, but he knew that using it as a weapon would only anger the much larger person. He might draw a little blood before the pin was taken away. He couldn’t help but imagine those hands closing in and squeezing him between them as a punishment. There’d be nothing left of him.

He drew in a rattling breath, a desperate sob, and curled up again. It was too much. A low, plaintive wail escaped him as he began to cry in earnest this time. All consideration of silence left, and his voice came out reedy and terrified. “Please, please d-don’t hurt me!”

October 7th excerpt:

Oscar watched as Jacob followed suit, standing easily on Dean’s hand. With the three of them all waiting on him, he took some hasty steps forward, but stopped when Dean’s fingertips were right in front of him. Those digits were bigger than he was. Sometimes it was incredible to think that humans could be so big. Then he had to remember that he and people like him were the odd ones. Dean, though he seemed to be kind of huge even for a human, was the normal one in the room.

Oscar took a short, deep breath, hoping the exhale carried some of his trepidation with it. He stepped carefully onto the hand and immediately paused, feeling the skin beneath his shoes in one of the strangest textures he’d ever stood on. The calluses were thick enough that he hardly had any impact on them.

September 6th excerpt:

Ignoring the bustle around him from the onset of the early dinner rush, Dean gently pressed a hand over his pocket to reassure the tiny kid within. There wasn’t much else he could do without taking the risk of Oscar being spotted, so he had to settle.

Deal left his hand there for a beat longer after he felt the tiniest little hands push against him. Before dropping his hand away, he nudged where he thought Oscar’s side was, teasing his friend to remind him he was safely out of sight.

September 4th excerpt:

Oscar huffed and his lips pursed in a determined pout. He could see the doubt lining Dean’s expression even as the older boy pulled the thread away to examine it. “I can! I climb all the time!” he insisted. His cheeks warmed with indignation and a drive to assure the human beyond that doubt.

September 3rd excerpt:

When Oscar was finished with his bag, Dean reached a hand forward and nudged the side of the tiny bag with a curious finger, wondering what else Oscar might have in there. He couldn’t imagine the kid could fit too much stuff in there.

Oscar flinched, let out a squeak of surprise and clutched his bag close, looking up at Dean with reddening cheeks. If he’d known he was being watched, he might not have put the food in his bag. Luckily for him, Dean didn’t look annoyed or angry with him for taking food. He had a more inquisitive expression and his focus on the little cloth bag.

Oh! You mean like the other half of Brothers Unexpected?

We couldn’t leave Dean completely out of the story, and what’s more unexpected than a tiny, innocent Oscar, paired up with the man that monsters fear?!

You’ve earned a full sneak peak of #auv for sure!

Oscar saw the hand coming, and felt like everything around him slowed down. From the moment that human had laid eyes on him, he’d known this would follow. The ground quaked from the giant feet hitting the floor, but Oscar could only hear the pounding of his own heart.

His mouth opened in a soundless yelp of fear and he tried to lurch backwards, scooting with his hands. The hand came closer and closer and beyond it he could see the human’s focused, intense gaze.

He couldn’t stop this from happening. It was going to go exactly as his mom always warned him it would if a human spotted him.

He’d be captured and claimed, like a pet or a toy. They might keep him in a cage so he couldn’t get away, couldn’t go free ever again. He might get hurt when the human realized why he was in the room, and he wouldn’t have any excuse other than he was hungry. Who knew if that would work?

The terror overwhelmed him and he couldn’t even prop himself up on his hands. With a cry, Oscar fell backwards, only to roll onto his side and curl up into as small a ball as he could. He was desperate to avoid getting hurt when that hand reached him and caught him.

Dean felt some of the worry and tension leave him as his hand closed around the tiny figure, scooping him easily off the ground. Now, at least, he didn’t have to fret about a tiny kid on the floor that he could accidentally step on.

Lifting his hands, closed around the tiny boy he’d seen on the floor, staring up at him with equally wide-eyed shock to what Dean felt, he wondered if he’d really seen what he thought he saw. A tiny kid? In his room. Dean knew a lot of stuff out there that people thought were myths or fairy tales were real, but… tiny kids?

Was he living The Borrowers?

Adult Oscar at his tallest is only three and a quarter inches tall. He really wanted to reach three and a half (is that so much to ask?), but he didn’t quite make it, the poor little guy!

Putting that in human scale, he’d be just over five feet and one inch. Such a little guy, he’d be a foot shorter than Dean! Sam can basically use him as an armrest.

Just to let everyone know, we’ve certainly never forgotten about the young canon Winchester bros + kiddo Oscar! From time to time we throw story ideas around and this is one of our favorite ones so far! Once we get enough ideas going, I’m sure it’ll become a full-fledged story like so many before it :3

Tiny Oscar and young Sam Winchester are too much cute to contain! Dean will have to keep a stern eye on this pair, if only to keep Sam from feeding Oscar candy constantly.

Oscar’s shuddering never stopped. His heart pounded in his little chest and he had his arms tucked close to his chest while he gripped the strap of his cloth bag in terror. Wide eyes stared up at the human and waited for one of those enormous hands to return.

Oscar couldn’t stop anything that happened to him. He was too small.

“B-but I …” he began weakly, only to falter again. He took a slow, rattling breath and felt the telltale sting of more tears in his eyes. The human had asked him not to run off. Would he stop Oscar from trying? “I-I just … I don’t …”

Oscar Meets Jacob (3/5)

Jacob’s eyes widened. He let go of the tiny arm and his thumb released the little guy’s legs in pure surprise. The fear on that little face became more obvious just before it disappeared behind the miniature hands. The tiny person drew his knees up to his chest and curled into a protective ball, shoulders bouncing in time with his frantic sobs.

Suddenly, Jacob felt like such an ass.
