The future of Brothers Saved

I saw that you were planning to do some more work on Brothers Saved and you were asking for prompts, so… I’ve been curious to see John and Dean interact. Usually Dean stands up to him, but at his new size , would he? Could he? Would Sam step in? 

@nightmares06– Actually, there’s going to be a lot said on this subject!

The major overriding factor of how Dean grows up at this size is going to be how he deals with his family.

He’s very used to being the older brother, and therefore in charge of Sammy. Never in his life has his dad expected anything but perfection of him, and he’s taken Sam’s care to heart. Sometimes to the point where Dean suffers to make sure that Sam gets what he needs.

The fact is that John Winchester won’t consider Dean able to handle himself anymore, strictly because of his size, will certainly be a sore spot between them, and Sam will find himself stuck in the middle of them, watching his older brother who he still looks up to, suffer under their dad’s disapproval.

So you will see lots of this, I promise! I’m hoping to get through the early years of Brothers Saved soon so that we can see this develop between the three Winchesters!

Small update

So far, instead of writing out the early days of Brothers Saved, I’ve instead added to the Angst that will happen during the big fight.

Yaaay, angst.

Still open to prompts and ideas for BSaved! More asks to be answered later today! Keep an eye open for them, we’ve gotten some good questions in and will even have a few sneak peeks up!

Timelines and Kevin Tran

Well, in Brothers Apart, most likely not.

The stories are based on the first five season of Supernatural, and the majority of it is before the apocalypse ever happened (first three seasons). We are just now venturing into the fourth and fifth season setup, because the angels have made themselves known because of their rogue fallen sister causing #problems.

We have considered a few stories that will have the bunker in them, but they aren’t Brothers Apart based stories, strictly g/t ideas that use the Supernatural themes and stories.

Kevin Tran hasn’t been considered yet, since he’s connected to actions that occur after the apocalypse is long over.

One decision I did make, when Brothers Consulted was in progress, was that the British Men of Letters will not exist in the Sherlock universes. The BMoL take away too much of the Supernatural allure of London, making it a land sterilized of monsters and run by psychopaths a boring crew obsessed with doing things ‘their’ way.

What is it about London and psychopaths

Of course, when Brothers Apart wraps up, I may decide to do single stories from their future, whatever may happen to Sam and the other cursed borrowers in the end. It’s something I won’t decide until this is totally wrapped up and complete. 

I want Brothers Apart to have the ending it deserves, one way or the other.

Hunger Games

Lol! I have to say, I wasn’t expecting a question along these lines.

The stories will never crossover with The Hunger Games. Though I did enjoy the books quite a lot and have seen the movies a few times, it’s not my style of story.

If you mean along the lines of games or kids going after each other the way the special children did in Supernatural season 2, then most likely not.

Though Gabriel enjoys a game or two, even he would be taken aback by just how vicious the games turned out to be. Games are meant to be lessons! Sure a few people might die here and there, but setting them against each other just so the people in charge can get a laugh??

The trickster prefers to go after the high and mighty, so it’s more likely the people of the Capitol would have problems with him.

As for the special children, in BA they’re replaced by the cursed children and borrowers, each with their own special knacks (Andy must be out there somewhere! The awesome psychic!). Celeste’s goal differs from Azazel, and she’s after making stronger vessels, not just one strong vessel. Killing off the cursed would make no sense to her when instead she can channel their strength instead.

Brothers Saved idea

Aww, lil Oscar and a much-smaller Dean than usual!

As it happens, this is one of the future ideas we have for the AU, and it’s going to be very different from Brothers Together!

For a hint, Dean will actually already know a lot of the survival techniques for living as a borrower by the time he meets the wee kiddo, as someone else will be teaching him that!

Their relationship will probably be a lot less scare on Dean’s part now that he’s not the big huge teenager, and Sam’s nowhere near as intimidating as Dean can be.

I agree! Oscar in all AUs.

Burnouts

They could, but anyone that tries this is going to need a lot of power. Like, archangel level power. Burnouts aren’t easy to heal because of the angel grace the knack draws power from, and if their ability to harness that power snaps, it’s going to need a lot of OOMPH to break back through.

Nixie might have enough power to manage it, she’s able to see the threads and could try and knit them back together proper, but it would be a very difficult healing compared to her normal work.

Not gonna lie, I’m the person that reads about the one time Sam got shoved into Dean’s pant pocket and my first thought is “I wish I could see that scene” 😂 All I can picture is Dean being flustered and Sam being grouchy…

Lol! That’s gotta be the most awkward position for those two to get caught in!

There’s actually a scene in Deanzilla vs Hydros, towards the later chapters, where this happens with regular sized Sam and his giant brother, so I definitely had inspiration for it!

I’m rereading Brothers Together and I had forgotten how many things are mentioned that I wished I could see what happened! I can’t get the thought out of my mind of what it must have been like for smol Sam to stitch Dean up after a hunt or what happened when Sam temporarily lost his hearing after being too close to Dean’s gun firing.

(Part 2 of 2) I especially keep imagining what it must have been like when Dean pretended to be drunk on the hunt while Sam was giving him directions on the phone. I have this theory that Dean was trying to see just how many ridiculous phrases he could say and still get away with his drunk persona… Basically, I love the multiverse you have created and I can’t wait to read more! 😍

Those little story bits are always fun to have hanging around, just a tease to what their lives are like day-to-day! I might not be able to write everything out, but there’s always the chance someone else might get inspiration from them for their own story!

Sam is resigned to his giant, fake-drunk brother at this point, lol. He’s gotta keep an eye on that hunter so he doesn’t go getting himself in trouble!

Brothers Saved prompts open

So, I’m thinking about writing some Brothers Saved this week while I have off time. It’s been nagging me that I should finish up Dean’s first week smol, that way the story can move on to bigger and better things.

Send me your head-canons, prompts, wishlists and ideas for this AU! No guarantee I’ll get to each one, but hopefully they can get the creativeness flowing!

Song Inspiration

If you could choose a song to represent the BA multiverse (besides the traditional supernatural ‘Carry on my wayward son’) what would it be?

Carry On Wayward Son is naturally, a classic for writing anything with Sam and Dean in it, but I definitely have my music that I use when I need inspiration!

There’s a few different songs I’ve used for scenes or stories, like Glad You Came for the end of Taken, when it’s all calm after everything has happened. Celeste has her own theme song in Painted Black, the version by Ciara (A+ song for getting evil, and highly recommended!). 

Whenever I want to feel Sherlock-y, I did download the soundtrack to the first three seasons. Those songs are great!

I think one of the songs that helped shape the stories as they are is Jump On My Shoulders, by AWOLNATION. It’s a bouncy song, and not inherently g/t oriented, but I get definite g/t feels from the main line, Jump on my shoulders, and is probably what helped form Sam’s favorite place to stick with Dean. He’s not a fan of pockets, it’s shoulders all the way!

Plus, that song has a line about a man at the door, there to steal your soul, so it also has the Supernatural vibe I’m looking for.

One of my more recent songs is House of Memories, by Panic! At the Disco. It’s what inspired me to start writing some of the BA finale story, which will definitely be emotion-heavy if I get to complete it the way it’s planned out in my mind. 

I just, need songs to write. Give me the music and emotions!
