Given smols (without flight) are usually level with the ground, one of the first things they see is a big’s feet.

I’m curious. What type of shoewear do the bigs in the BA multiverse prefer? Also, when at home/relaxing do they favor socks or no socks? Lastly, for human-sized bigs, what are their shoe sizes? Who would intimidate a grounded smol more?

Well, the Supernatural verse parallels reality in how people look and dress per area, and BA parallels Supernatural, so we won’t see huge differences between the tols in the verses!

Hunters like Sam and Dean tend to wear boots, which are certainly intimidating for a smol to see! We’ve got a few scenes in Jacob in Wonderland where Jacob has the misfortune to end up on the floor completely unknown to Dean, wearing a hoodie that blends in with the rug.

The Brits in Brothers Consulted mostly stick to dress shoes, and Stan certainly has a good sense of fashion compared to the others!

We don’t have any on-screen death of smols when it comes to being accidentally killed by a tol, no. 

There are stories that do go into the possible dangers of living near humans, so there is a death by crushing that spurs the story in Garlic and Cold Spots, a Brothers Adopted story. 

Another accidental death occurs in Brothers Lost, where Melanie’s friend dies in a bathtub full of water. You can find this in The Water’s Fine.

We rarely write out on-screen deaths, with a few select exceptions.

I’m sorry if this has been answered before, but what would have happened if John Winchester found both of his boys hit by the curse at the time that it happened? Would he have stayed with them or just dropped them off at Bobby’s?

It might have come up before, but I can’t remember for sure, lol.

John would have brought them to Bobby’s at first, because it’s one of the most secure places around for hunters of the supernatural.

Since both brothers are cursed, they can’t risk leaving them on their own. John and Bobby will work in shifts tracking the witch, a week at a time. When one’s on the road hunting her, the other is watching the boys.

Her trail evaporates very quickly, and it’s not long before John has to face the brutal reality of having two tiny children in a life of hunting. Bobby can’t watch them forever, and it’s not safe to leave them at such a vulnerable size.

It won’t take long for the brothers to feel more like a burden than John’s children in this scenario.

**I won’t write out this kind of scenario, mainly because John Win is a big source of writer’s block for me.

Is there ever going to be a story with both Sam and Dean normal size with a tiny?

We actually do have a few planned out in the BA multiverse!

Brothers Chosen will have canon Sam and Dean discovering cursed Stan Baker the captive of a he-witch they’re hunting, and will have to figure out what to do with this tiny ginger after the case is over.

There’s plans for Jacob to be besieged by the canon-sized Sam and Dean, though this idea is only in the planning stages currently, and may change wildly when we begin writing it.

Brothers United pairs tiny Oscar with the weechesters, and will have a very different outcome than Brothers Together did when they were kids… This will be a lot of canon bros growing up with tiny Oscar!

Outside of the BA Multiverse, there’s also Neon’s story Beggars Can’t be Choosers, which involves the Canon Winchesters finding none other than little Oscar in their motel room. It’s from the Angel and the Mouse AU, which began with Quiet as a Mouse (with Castiel, Angel of the Lord, finding Oscar).

Brothers Apart Contest 2019

The contest has ended and results are posted! Thank you to everyone for taking part!

From January 10th, 2019 to May 18th, 2019, there is a contest running for Brothers Apart!

All art mediums are welcome, but the art must be based off of one of the stories within the Brothers Apart Multiverse.

Literature is accepted, so feel free to enter in any story entries you want. The stipulation is if it is a multi-part story, all parts must be up by May 18th.

There are some big changes this year in both prizes and rules!

Rules:

  1. Must be based on the Brothers Apart multiverse. Canon brothers will not be accepted unless they are dealing with Celeste’s curse victims and neither will the stories I have written that are not related to the AU. (An Ounce of Courage, Reversal of Fate, The Comeback Kid, Afraid, ect…) 
  2. You may create an entry based on one of the various AU’s (Brothers Lost, Brothers Consulted, ect…) or create your own AU, but it must in some way connect to the Brothers Apart multiverse.
  3. This year there will be one contest and we’ll start with three winners (which will increase if enough interest is shown). Each contestant may submit up to two entries.
  4. Everyone is welcome to enter except for @nightmares06, since I will be running the contest. 😉 That includes betas and cowriters.
  5. You may include any OCs from the stories in any artwork or writing or create your own OCs to interact with them! It’s fun to do!
  6. Each entry must be uploaded for viewing online. This is not site specific, but it must be a publicly displayed work.
  7. Please tag @brothersapart in any tumblr entries. If the entry doesn’t get reblogged to brothersapart, I might not have seen it! Let me know.
  8. For fanfiction.com, archive of our own or other website entries, please send a message with the location of your entry to brothersapart.spn@gmail.com so a link to it can be displayed on tumblr for everyone to see.
  9. For the deviantart entries, send a note to nightmares06 with the entry to ensure that it is added to the contest journal. Also provide a link to the contest journal in the information section for the entry.
  10. Each entry will be displayed on the Brothers Apart tumblr, wordpress site, and on nightmares06′s deviantart homepage.
  11. If you want to change either of your entries at any time for either contest, please message me through the BA email or a note on DA.

Stan is lowkey a g/t nerd himself, so even if he’d never heard of borrowers before or had any idea they were real, he’d have generally positive reactions. Depending on the circumstances he might get a little overexcited and even a bit grabby, especially if the smol tries to run away before Stan gets to introduce himself and learn more about the smol! 

Aside from that it would mostly be amazed stares and curious questions. If the smol stuck around, they would learn that he’s receptive to their feelings regarding the meeting, and will adjust his behavior to try and make them more comfortable.

Wouldn’t leave tea and biscuits completely off the table.

As for John, we mused ages ago about a few situations in which he was the one to find Sam and Dean before Sherlock, ones that probably aren’t likely to be written into full stories since it’s not likely to change the overall dynamic and story from what’s been established in Brothers Consulted. Mostly it builds trust with John a little earlier on since he’s more likely to let them go about their business if he accidentally finds them.

The tiny imaginings on what would happen if John found them first are always so sweet and cute. What if John did grab Sam out of his coat pocket? What if he reached just a little too far and ended up with Sam instead of a teabag? What if he figured out the sneezes weren’t coming from the kitchen? 

The poor guy would be a nervous wreck thinking he was going to stumble over tiny people at any second.

To clarify, as the literal bigger brother, I’ve noticed that he spends much of his time having to be so careful over every single action and his over protective side often makes him full of guilt and regret and it makes me wonder how that translates in the different situations.

Oh man. The way Dean’s big brother instincts change in the AUs is always so fun.

Big Dean and tiny Sam (’canon’ Brothers Apart):

Tries to big brother Sam. Discovers Sam values independence. Attempts to back down and totally fails. Sam lets Dean big brother him, all while amused at how much effort Dean’s putting into all this.

Big Sam and tiny Dean (Brothers Saved):

Fusses over his kid brother growing up. Will fight if anyone ever dismisses Sam in front of him. Only stands up to their dad if it’s Sam he’s standing up for. Sam will knock anyone’s lights out if they try and stop Dean from big brothering. Do not try to shush his big brother, thanks very much. 

Tiny bros together:

Mess with Sam and Dean will absolutely do anything to protect him. If he can’t reach Sam or is completely helpless (IE how Jacob first met Sam in Lost), Dean will attempt to bargain himself away if only to save his little brother. Fairly close to canon Dean in reactions.

Aww! The poor kiddo missed out on a few human experiences the rest of us have to deal with.

Of course, just because he didn’t have Dean around to break the bad news to him, doesn’t mean he didn’t learn the truth. He’s not separated from humanity like Asunder Sam was, and they do pick up a lot of gossip from the human chatter in nearby rooms, along with what’s on the TV.

Walt never really understood why humans needed to believe in giant bunnies that brought them candy and probably shattered Sam’s world with an offhand comment about it one day. Dean would have been in stitches to see Sam’s face.
