Known Abilities: Master of strategizing against much larger foes, sword master, aerial acrobatics, basic Prayer to the Earth Spirit, able to keep a battle calm against tough enemies

Background: Scar is the High Knight of Wellwood, and he didn’t get his position lying around. In his early years as a knight, he showed aptitude and skill with the sword and a strong drive to protect the sprites from the dangers that might arrive in the forest. This drive aided in his fight against a wolf that had killed a few sprites, and the animal was left completely blind as a result. Scar earned his name as well as monumental respect from the others in the village.

In Sam of Wellwood, it was Scar who first found the lost and frightened young Sam Winchester directly after his curse. He brought the boy back to the village and soon after was driven to help him find his family. When Sam grew a little older, Scar noticed his strength and drive to make more of himself, and from then on took Sam under his wing as a new knight in training.

Quote: The enemy is strong, and he is dangerous, but he will be strong and dangerous whether we cower and doubt ourselves or fly out to meet him.

I know what I’d rather do!

August 7th excerpt:

Dean raised up his arm, holding himself at the ready. “Scar, move,” he snapped out a command, used to being in charge. “That’s my brother out there, and he needs my help!” All he could see in his mind’s eye was Sam, covered in blood. Sam, crushed in a fist.

Dean, too far away to help.

Scar’s dark green eyes flickered to the hand that lifted up a sharp knife ready to slice into its enemy. Whatever intimidation he might have felt didn’t make it to his face. He flew a little closer, resolutely staying in Dean’s way. Even knowing Dean could swipe him out of the air at any given second, Scar held his stance.

“Your brother is alive, and Bowman is alive,” Scar hissed back.

He hated having his back turned on the enemy, but right now his biggest asset was also his biggest problem. “If you want to keep them that way then you will listen to me, human.”

April 28th excerpt:

“Judging by yesterday, I’m betting you’ll make up for a lot by babysitting some nestlings,” Jacob quipped. The feeling of the tiniest little shoes walking on his hand or his shoulders would never lose its novelty, he was certain. Those kids hadn’t even had a chance to play with Sam’s “big big brother.”

A strange, almost alien happiness came over Dean at that. “Ya think?” he asked, a bit of awe in his eyes. He’d seen Jacob with the nestlings, but most of his time in the village had been spent either with Sam at his home or planning with Scar.

The children that visited with Jacob were so small. Especially the tiny nestling that had gotten a piggyback ride on Sam’s shoulders. While they were both standing on Jacob’s knee. Within reach of not one human, but two after Dean came over to join them.

April 24th excerpt:

Scar let himself chuckle briefly, a short sound that carried his pride with it. He remembered discovering that Sam held strength much greater than any sprite. It was one of his fondest memories, seeing his then-youngest student besting all of his veteran knights one by one in a test of strength.

April 10th excerpt:

Sam didn’t know what kind of poison Scar had given him, but he hoped it would be potent enough to make a difference. Scar’s wings provided enough cover for him to pry off the cork and slather it onto the sharp, silver blade. Dean had imbued in Sam at a young age a care for his weapons that he’d taken to heart after his curse.

The blade might be small, but it was all he had.

April 9th excerpt:

Scar was practically a legend

For years after Sam’s rescue, he’d looked up to the noble sprite. Without Scar, Sam would be nothing more than a memory. The sprite had seen his dedication and his curiosity about the knights and everything about them… the way they defended the village, the rapiers and uniforms they wore… and had decided to take Sam under his wing and mentor him. Even as Sam had passed Scar in height, he continued to look up to him.

March 16th excerpt:

“There are warnings that humans are dangerous to us. That they’d cage or eat a sprite, or pull at their wings.” Scar narrowed his eyes at this, looking thoughtful. Cerul could feel strains of doubt among his pensive friend’s restless emotions.

“Call me crazy but that nestling isn’t anything like that,” Scar insisted. “Even if he was … four and a half blasted feet tall, I doubt he’d want to hurt a fly.”

March 15th excerpt:

“What do you mean, ’if they’re sprite-sized?’ ” the same patrolsprite blurted again, though this time she had the support of a few other murmurs of agreement. Scar was pleased that his knights knew not to join in the blasted murmurs.
