Walt would accept Sam just the same. He understands that Sam doesn’t belong at their size, no matter how long it’s been, and he also knows that Sam would never do anything to hurt them. He might get stiff on occasion, but he’d never turn Sam away.
Bree would be better with Sam than she is with Dean. She knows him, as well as she knows anyone, really.
