So far, it’s been a secret, but you asked so nicely we’ll let everyone know :3

The story with extra smol Jacob is found in Brothers Found, so this tiny little guy is used to standing at a full 6′5″ tall normally! He’s really not prepared for what happens – and he doesn’t even shrink to just over an inch at the start. It begins with him ending up ‘sprite-sized,’ as Bowman so eloquently puts it.

Jacob hesitated before taking that last step and leaning on SEND; up until now, he’d merely had a view of trees and birds and squirrels at his new (hopefully not permanent) size. Calling Dean meant he’d be asking someone over six feet tall to come to his aid. With Jacob standing just over four inches, that would a huge shock.

But, he had to stop and remind himself, Dean was probably the best person to trust with this situation. Dean’s younger brother, Sam, was this size, after all. Not from the same thing, as he understood it (thankfully, since they had never found any leads on getting Sam back to his natural size), but still. Dean knew how to deal with smaller people better than anyone else. The guy would probably give Jacob endless shit about it (especially since Jacob had finally passed him in height), but if anyone in the world could help, it was Dean and Sam Winchester.

“Well? Prove that it works!” Bowman said, impatient as he stared at the device. Even when he’d seen Jacob using the phone, he never had a great angle on the object in action. He was convinced that Jacob was either joking with him, or that the device ran by magic. As Jacob pressed a button with a weird green symbol, Bowman watched the phone with eager curiosity. At least it was a momentary distraction from the fact that one of his best friends was almost a twentieth of his usual gigantic size.

Ooo, at last someone has solved the mystery. Jacob is indeed the kid that finds Sam in a motel room. (Compared to Sam, Jacob at his 17 years of age is just a kid) Neither of them expect it, that’s for sure.

Annnd… since someone has guessed who the kid in the story is, it’s time for another sneak peek!

“Wow,” Jacob muttered aloud, his free hand nudging the little bag that now lay mostly free on his hand, part of the strap secured just as much as the tiny chest was. Two impossibly small clasps held it shut and Jacob couldn’t help the amazed smile. He poked at one of the teeny legs, amazed that the little guy was even wearing miniature jeans, denim and all.

His gaze drifted back to the little guy’s face. “What are you?” he asked, unsure if he’d even be understood. It was worth a shot.

The little guy didn’t seem to have understood Jacob’s question, judging by the way he resumed his struggles. He’d heard, definitely, because Jacob had felt him tense up from the noise. He supposed his voice might be a little loud for such tiny ears. He’d have to remember that so he didn’t freak the little guy out any more than he already was.

One of the little legs kicked at his hand. The tiniest boot Jacob had ever seen planted on one of his knuckles and pushed with all its might. He didn’t actually feel any force from it, though it was clear the tiny person was giving it his all. Some pity softened his expression. The poor guy was just so small. Jacob moved his hand away.

“Don’t worry, you’re safe,” he said, in a quieter voice than before. Hopefully it would offer some comfort to the little guy, even if he didn’t understand the words; it was still tough to tell if he could.

Jacob could feel the panicked breaths speeding in and out of the small chest pinned by his thumb. The little guy was practically hyperventilating there. And he was pushing against Jacob’s thumb for all he was worth, but again Jacob didn’t actually feel the force behind the little shoves. Still, clearly he wasn’t helping with the poor guy’s breathing, so he’d have to think of something else.

Jacob got an idea and latched onto it. He shifted his hand so it was flatter, and then used his thumb to gently nudge the small person so he was propped up against Jacob’s curled fingers like a seat. That done, he moved his thumb so it rested on the tiny shins instead, hopefully preventing any panicked flailing without constricting the little guy’s breathing.

“There, isn’t that- fuckdammit!

First sneak peek

Actually, the only Jacob in the Brothers Apart stories/AU’s that is from the timeline where he met up with Bowman will be the Jacob that will appear in Brothers Apart itself in a future story. Otherwise, each time you see Jacob Andris appear, it is a different Jacob who took a different path… just like how Sam and Dean are different in each one.

I think Dean might have a much easier time with Jacob if the teenager had already encountered a certain sassy sprite. These two will be butting heads right from the get-go!

“Why do you think I did it?” Dean growled at the human, his voice bouncing off the curved wall of glass he was stuck behind. He pointed up at the ceiling he couldn’t reach. “The next time I stick you in a coffee pot like the morning brew, we’ll let you make the decisions.” He crossed his arms, prepared to do what it took to outlast the human. He’d never give away the others, and he was prepared to deal with the consequences for that decision.

Jacob’s eyebrows shot up yet again. He had to wonder where the little guy was keeping all that sass stored up, because it didn’t look like it’d fit in his tiny frame. He pondered the snarky words while the little hands brushed at those tiny clothes. Every movement was so familiar, but in such a small miniature that Jacob could almost miss it if he wasn’t looking right at the little guy.

“Come on, man, I already said I’d letcha out. No need to make such a big deal out of it when you’re the one who was sneaking around in my room,” he pointed out. “What were you-” he started to ask, but his eyes flitted to the white styrofoam takeout box still resting on the table.

Flashback

( Presenting a never before seen flashback all the way from the first week after Dean discovering Sam in Brothers Apart! )

There is a flash of boots coming straight at him, and Sam dives out of the way.

It is an instinctive, unthinking reaction to the sight of those massive leather structures that move under the control of the humans that share the world with people his size. “Borrowers,” Dean calls them, no matter how many times Sam argues against it.

He has only been traveling with his brother for two days and so is not adjusted to having a person so large around.

Sam hits the ground and rolls under the bed. It is an area that gives him more safety than the wide open area of the rest of the motel room. Dean doesn’t understand this yet, because he can’t see things the way Sam does.

He can’t see the way he towers over the entire room. He doesn’t understand the fear lurking in Sam that one of those massive hands will shoot towards the smaller hunter-in-training and trap him against his will.

It is these thoughts that Sam always has in mind. They plague him every day. After all, within the week Dean has grabbed him against his will not once, but twice.

The first time was no one’s fault. Dean hadn’t known it was Sam he was stalking in his motel room any more than Sam had known Dean was the human stalking him.

The second time was on purpose for Dean, but unexpected once more for Sam. It was a demonstration of why Sam couldn’t let his guard down, even with Dean.

It saddens him to think how dangerous his own older brother could be, just because of a curse that struck when they were children. They were so close back then.

Sometimes Sam wonders what would have happened to them if Dean had been struck by the curse as well. Or if the witch had chosen to strike at the older Winchester in the moment before their dad busted down the door.

The boots hesitate where they’d stopped. The weight on them shifts, and Sam sees a huge knee drop down from above to press into the ground.

Dean is kneeling.

It awes Sam to consider just how much power his older brother has grown into as an adult. And not just in comparison to Sam. The older Winchester goes head to head with monsters on a regular basis and always comes out on top. There are scars from these fights, scars that Sam can see better than anyone else, but still Dean lives to fight on.

Sam scrambles to his feet as kind green eyes dip down into view and Dean peers under the bed to look for him. Guilt covers the hunter’s face at the way his little brother has run from him.

Sam’s chest continues to heave from the brief scare when the green eyes land on him at last, and this makes Dean’s face soften even more. There aren’t many things that can break the stern facade that Dean Winchester keeps around him, but his little brother so afraid is one of them.

“Sammy,” he says, his voice a soft thunder of concern. “You know…” He has to pause and clear his throat. “I didn’t mean to scare you,” he switches track smoothly. “You know I can see you on the ground, right? I’m not about to step on my baby brother.

The desperate apology in those eyes surprises Sam. He never means to make Dean feel that way. It was simply a reaction, one that was instinctive when dealing with people that towered over his head and he was small enough to get pinned to the ground by a single finger.

Compared to a human, he is small and weak.

Sam wishes he can make Dean understand it isn’t his fault. It never will be. And so he tries.

First, he steps out from under cover. The safety of the bed is deceptive, anyway. The mattress can be lifted by a human like Dean without a problem. One of those hands can shoot out to grab him where he hides. More vulnerability for Sam.

Dean’s eyes track Sam’s movements, but he doesn’t make a move. It doesn’t help that whenever Dean moves, Sam flinches. Because of this, the hunter is already learning to restrain unnecessary movements.

The necessity saddens Sam.

His brother shouldn’t have to change who he is if he wants to be around his little brother without getting flinches or fear in return.

“I-I know you’re not,” Sam manages to get out as he stares up at Dean. The older hunter has flattened himself against the dusty rug so they can talk and his eyes are still above Sam’s head. Dean could put his chin against the ground and it would be the same.

Sam was too small.

“It’s just…” Sam waves his hand at the open area between the beds, trying to ignore how small it looks in comparison to his surroundings. For so long, he lived in the walls and with people his own size. Now, he is with Dean constantly, and reminded of his curse every single moment.

“You’re really big,” Sam finishes lamely, wishing he had the words.

Dean’s lips thin to a line, and Sam feels tension start to wind up his back. The sight of a giant with an intense glare like that on his face is not easy to take in at four inches in height. Dean doesn’t mean it, but his size gets in the way of an innocent look.

“Sam,” Dean said, “I know you have to be careful. I just want you to know… I won’t forget you’re here. You deserve to be able to live without being afraid all the time. I… I want to help.

This time, it is Sam’s face that softens. He takes another step out into the open, this time completely away from the cover of the bed. “I know you do.”

He rests his small arm on one of Dean’s massive hands and uses it to lean on. That huge hand could spring up at any time and coil completely around his body.

But it doesn’t, and it won’t, and Sam knows this.

“Just watch where you toss your dirty socks,” Sam snarks up at his brother, feeling the last of the tension sloughing off at the return of their normal banter. Moments like this were when he barely even felt the size difference, and it was good. “I don’t need the nightstand smelling like dirty feet all night.” He wrinkles his nose and is rewarded with a chuckle from Dean.

No matter how different, they will always be brothers.

Which is probably why Sam finds a dirty sock lurking outside of the nightstand the next morning.

Brothers Asunder Sneak Peek

You’ll never see your brother again… this time I’ll make sure of it.

An owl hooted in the cool night air.

Tears ran grimy streaks down Sam’s cheeks. He huddled against the trunk of a tree, trying to hide as far back in the shadows as he could. The silence was only broken by the occasional sob.

Every shadow that crossed his line of sight sent a jagged spike of icy fear up his back. Leaves wafted in an invisible breeze, an idyllic, innocent scene rendered foreboding by his current circumstances.

He didn’t know exactly how big he was, but he definitely wasn’t the size he’d been before the attack.

A leaf fluttered down from the canopy above. It landed next to Sam, rustling gently in the air. The leaf alone was broad enough to block him from sight.

Young shoots of grass poking up out of the dirt were taller than he was.

With shaking, hesitant hands, Sam gripped the edge of the leaf tight and pulled it close. A cry hiccuped in his chest.

The green leaf formed a canopy of his own over his head. Sam scrunched back against the thick bark, using his leaf as a makeshift tent to hide from the sight of any nearby predators. A strident breeze tried to pull it from his grasp, but he persevered. White knuckles clenched tight.

Those animals lurking out in the forest were huge. He couldn’t even risk getting up to see where he was.

The owl hooted its call across the branches once more and Sam shut his eyes.

Dean, where are you?

Brothers Asunder is the story where Sam is adopted by the sprites, separated from Dean by more than just his size. Now, Dean has no idea where Sam is, how big he is, and no idea he survived the witch’s attack. Only the future will tell if Celeste’s plan to separate them at last will work!

Jacob will be the first person to agree with you there, I can tell you that! They don’t have a ruler to measure him in the story, but he’s about an inch and a half tall, making him just about teddy bear sized to Sam.

Because of the immense size difference, this is a horror story. It’s darker than our normal stuff, and experimental in a lot of ways to see how our styles do with horror. It’s not a story for everyone, and it’ll be a roller coaster ride from start to finish!

Jacob was quickly distracted from his shock at Sam and Bowman’s size when he felt the rumble in the ground. A much bigger rumble than before. The tips of each blade of grass around them quivered in time with the tremors, and the shaking traveled up his legs through his planted feet and shaking knees.

He knew what caused it and his regret for the extra shrinkage doubled. It was one thing to face being tiny in a very big world alongside his friends. But now even they were big to him, so tall that he had to tilt his head back to speak directly to them. And that was nothing compared to what was making the ground shake beneath him so much.

Oh shit. Oh shit oh shit that’s right.

Dean’s even bigger now.

We can’t say toooo much without giving it all away, but it actually isn’t a big Sam! That is our beloved four inch tall Sammy, and his extra downsized Jacob! Or, as Dean calls him, half-pint.

Dean, you are always such a shit with the nicknames.

This will all take place in one of the future stories of the AU’s. Which AU won’t be disclosed until right before the story posts.

This attempt to find himself space to breathe and think was interrupted when a pair of hands appeared under his arms and his shocked staring contest with Dean shattered.

Bowman hoisted Jacob up under the arms the way one might hold a child, lifting him to eye level. Jacob squirmed a little and kicked his small legs, but Bowman ignored that to look him over. For what, he wasn’t sure. Some kind of trace of what happened? Perhaps something that’d help them fix him. But, just the fact that Bowman would actually lift Jacob was perplexing.

He looked over at Sam, and then up at Dean, still holding the extra miniaturized human up and hoisting him in the air for all to see. He didn’t notice the tiny hands clutching desperately at his sleeves or the more intense kicking in those tiny legs as Jacob’s eyes widened in shock. “Well now what?!”

Sam practically sputtered at Bowman’s movements. “Bowman! Put him down!”

Bowman: -internal screaming-

Give mogadeer some love for all the amazing art she’s done for these AU’s!

He will indeed! During the Brothers Adopted series, Dean and Jacob will have a run-in, and Sam isn’t around to straighten things out.

“Hey.” Leaning forward, Dean tapped against the glass vase a few times to get the guy’s attention again. “I already know you can talk so this silent treatment crap ain’t gonna do you any good.” Again, he felt ridiculously oversized seeing his finger next to someone so small. A casual tap like that against the kid might end up knocking him over. Hell, a stiff breeze might knock him over.

For a moment, all of Jacob’s fear vanished from his face, replaced by confusion. He frowned. The action hadn’t had any effect on his desire to speak to the human holding him captive. The scrutiny and the noise with the human that close had his nerves back in place in no time, but not without Jacob giving the human a look that said Really? He squared his shoulders, took a step forward, and drew a fist back. He punched the glass as hard as he could, defiance and frustration in the action. See how well this works? his expression seemed to say.

Dean was briefly caught off guard by the punch. It showed a spark of defiance he hadn’t expected, to say the least. A small bit of his former playful demeanor rose up in him and he found himself actually grinning for a moment. The angry facade dropped away, letting the Dean he used to be showed through in that moment.

“Oh, so that’s how it’s gonna be?” Dean asked gamely. He tapped right back at the little guy, finger rapping lightly directly opposite where the punch had landed.

Jacob flinched in surprise, the sound of another tap on the glass startling him almost as much as the sudden shift in the giant face in front of him. A smile, a genuine one, lit up the human’s expression and a playful tone had leaked into his deep voice.

Jacob glanced side to side, waiting for someone to walk around the corner somewhere and end the joke here. His fist was still held up at the ready, but he glanced at it before looking at the glass, unsure if he should even try to punch again.

Sneak Peek!

Jacob’s been downsized, and Sam rescued him from the witch along with the help of Walt and Mallory! After helping raise the teen as his own little brother, Sam is ready to take Jacob out to the rooms to help gather supplies. Without Walt for a chaperone.

What could go wrong?

The table itself had the standard motel pamphlets sitting on it in the center and a pen that was longer than Sam or Jacob was tall, along with a listing of the channels for the TV. Everything was haphazardly left lying about in a heap, making it hard to tell if there was anything that might not be missed, or anything that could be useful.

When Jacob reached the top, Sam offered him a hand to help him over the edge. He eyed the immense door at the other end of the room while he did so, narrowing his eyes at the serene sunlight that filtered its way into the room.

Deceptively calm.

“Thanks,” Jacob muttered, brushing his hands off on his jeans. He took a second to let himself be in awe of the view this time. The table was barely half the height of an average human. But Jacob might as well be standing on a building a few stories tall. It was still bizarre to him. Sam seemed like he’d gotten used to it, and Jacob was never sure how.

There were some water spots near the edge of the table that suggested a wet cloth had been wiped over it hastily. But that didn’t rule out the possibility of there being crumbs of something left behind on the table. The maids were hasty, most of the time.

Jacob started towards some of the pamphlets left on the table, thinking he’d take a quick glance under them. He shot one look back at where his hook was secure on the edge of the table. It felt weird to leave it behind like that, though he remembered Walt telling him why they did that. Even so, he hated the thought of losing the simple length of twine, since a lot of his lifestyle depended on it now.

Jacob paused and scuffed his boot over a nick in the table, a gouge the length of his arm. He raised an eyebrow at it. “Looks like someone got pissed,” he mused. The solid wood of the table seemed beyond sturdy, considering it was thicker than his body. The thought of someone marring its surface like that (probably by accident even) was almost unsettling. Humans were powerful.

“See anything?”

Sam pushed aside a few pamphlets of his own on the other side of the table, even going as far as to check between the pages. “No,” he sighed, “nothing.” Standing, he kicked a few to the side, making one sheaf of paper float down and slide over close to Jacob. “At least we still have the dresser and the nightstand to check. Stuff falls behind the nightstands here all the time and nobody ever checks them.”

Sam made his way over to Jacob, stepping on the papers cautiously so that they didn’t go sliding and send him flying. He ignored how big the letters were compared to his boots, used to seeing the scale difference after thirteen years spent this size. At 23 years of age, he’d been downsized longer than he’d been human. Compared to the scant 3 years that Jacob had under his belt, Sam was a seasoned veteran at this new life.

He had only reached the edge when he heard it.

The thundering growl of an engine right outside the door.

Sam’s heart froze. They were far away from any way out of the room. Far from the vent, and up high on a table. “Fuck,” he cursed. “We’ve gotta go.”

A car door slammed outside.

Now.

Nope, this isn’t what will happen in the Mystery AU… but this exact thing will happen in Brothers Lost, and Jacob will have to deal with a snarky little guy he finds trying to snitch his pie. The guesses are getting closer, and a new preview was earned for Brothers Lost:

It was easier to see the miniature leather jacket and black tee. The tiny man even had denim jeans on and what looked like leather boots. Jacob glanced aside to the little duffel he had discarded. He wondered where the leather all came from.

The little guy looked like a little biker or something. Holy shit.

Jacob’s smile returned and he reached out with his free hand to brush at the hem of the jacket before finding one of the little arms and lightly pinching it between his finger and thumb. Jacob was amazed; those tiny fingers could practically press into the ridges of his fingerprints! One hand wasn’t enough to cover even his pinky fingertip.

“Holy shit,” Jacob echoed.

This was no hallucination. This was real. He had actually found a tiny little man in his motel room. A motel, of all places. How in the world had he even survived at a size like this?

“Dude, what are you, some kinda borrower or something?”

Dean tried to rip his arm from the grip of the thick fingers. “What are you, some kind of Godzilla or something?” he mimed back without missing a beat.

Dean managed to get Walt to make him his own leather jacket and a leather bag just like Sam… only his ended up shaped just like the bag he lost when he shrank, so he’s got a very little duffel bag! This story is under construction right this moment and we’re very excited for how it’s going!
