Thank you for your words of support!

It was hard, but my editor and I had vastly differing opinions on things, and because of that we’d argue about them and I discovered that when this happened, any desire to write would vanish like it was never there. So, I cut things off completely for myself, and I know they probably see things differently. I was tired of dealing with writer’s block constantly, and being talked about behind my back for ‘not listening’ about stuff to put for my own damn story, and it was for my own sanity.

Now, I’ve got three different editors, depending on which series is being worked on at the time.

The other series are not yet ready for editing, and when they are we’ll have one of our loyal editors take a look at them. Because it was posted as we wrote it, Brothers Together has no editor and each part is posted as-is.

Brothers Apart won’t ever be abandoned, that’s for sure, but once A Lich of Sense is finished posting we’ll let one of the other AU’s shine in order to let me have time to work on the future stories. Don’t worry at all, anyone, all AU’s have my ‘verse style brothers, just in different interaction types, like Brothers Lost, where they are both smol (and I love them so)

Be careful when you’re asking things on the internet, because the people on the other end will have no tone of voice or facial expressions to go on. All they have are the words in front of them to interpret, and that’s how the ask came across.

For the future of BA, there’s a few good plans in motion.

  • The story after Lich is completed and currently being edited (it feels so tiny compared to the collabs I’ve done. I have to remind myself that’s how long my stories usually are)
  • Both the little guys living at Trails West and the burrow at Bobby’s will appear again.
  • Barry, Xander and Garen are still trapped and are in need of a human to save them! (Short story introducing them found here) They will appear in a three-story special mini-series within BA itself.
  • Jacob’s feeling left out after missing out on all the fun in Lich, so there will be another appearance of Bowman and the earthbound sprites in BA!
  • Aeternum sprites will return when Sam and Dean least expect with an entirely new sprite that they never expected to see.

Innovations of the Burrow

The littles that live out in the fields behind Bobby’s home have many different innovations. Because there’s so many different littles that find their way there (mostly with Rumsfeld’s help when he finds them wandering), they have a larger skill set than in other areas.

  • The stream that runs by one of the back entrances is full of minnows, so the more adept men and women will spear them, or careful nets are created to net them with.
  • They keep a bed of coals lit at all times in their largest chamber. It provides a place to cook fish, bugs or small animals that they need to fend off along with a source of heat in the winter.
  • Grass is woven into baskets by the older littles, and they teach the younger children the same skill.
  • Berries are collected from the nearby area. From the berries they can create a variety of jams and wines, and vinegar from the wines that age.
  • They make their clothing out of a variety of fabrics and plant materials. They have never had a tanner like Walt come to the burrow, so that is one skill that is lacking. His boots, leather jackets, leather satchels and canteens that he makes (the canteens dreamed up in a conversation with @chewbaccaaah), are all more durable than the fabric and cloth shoes used by the burrow. To gather fabric, they need to range farther than normal, sometimes venturing to the other homes in the area (Bobby’s was avoided as of the events in Adventures at Bobby’s).

We can’t say toooo much without giving it all away, but it actually isn’t a big Sam! That is our beloved four inch tall Sammy, and his extra downsized Jacob! Or, as Dean calls him, half-pint.

Dean, you are always such a shit with the nicknames.

This will all take place in one of the future stories of the AU’s. Which AU won’t be disclosed until right before the story posts.

This attempt to find himself space to breathe and think was interrupted when a pair of hands appeared under his arms and his shocked staring contest with Dean shattered.

Bowman hoisted Jacob up under the arms the way one might hold a child, lifting him to eye level. Jacob squirmed a little and kicked his small legs, but Bowman ignored that to look him over. For what, he wasn’t sure. Some kind of trace of what happened? Perhaps something that’d help them fix him. But, just the fact that Bowman would actually lift Jacob was perplexing.

He looked over at Sam, and then up at Dean, still holding the extra miniaturized human up and hoisting him in the air for all to see. He didn’t notice the tiny hands clutching desperately at his sleeves or the more intense kicking in those tiny legs as Jacob’s eyes widened in shock. “Well now what?!”

Sam practically sputtered at Bowman’s movements. “Bowman! Put him down!”

We don’t have an exact time line for when we will have smol Jacob’s premier just yet, but we’ve been considering moving up when we post the first of the AU’s we have under construction. We’re still working on editing, having them beta’d and actually writing them currently, but expect to see a poll soon for everyone’s input on how it’s done! And we’ll also have a poll to decide which AU is posted, though Brothers Found will not be included in the poll until after A Lich of Sense is concluded because of possible spoilers included in that series.

It’s been great fun seeing how Jacob gets along with the Winchester bros. Where those two are generally intense personalities with stubbornness for the ages, Jacob is a much more laid back kid (though he tends to be a bit cheeky when he’s smol! 😉 ). He brings all the chill when he’s dealing with the Winchesters, and sometimes that’s a very good thing. They need chill.
